Box Studio: design corrugated boxes and dielines
Start from a FEFCO-coded template, enter the box size and the board, and get a dieline, a folded preview and the numbers a plant needs: sheet size, weight and waste.
Design
- FEFCO templates. A library of box styles identified by their FEFCO code, including the regular slotted container (0201), with search and filters.
- Sizes your way. Enter inner or outer dimensions. Allowance profiles describe how your plant's dielines differ from the finished size, and the same profile is reused across designs.
- Board and paper. Choose the flute and the paper for each ply from your own paper library, grouped by kind (flute, test, white, kraft, schrenz and your own groups).
- Flute direction. Set the flute direction and see it marked on the dieline.
- Folded preview. See the dieline folded into a closed box in 3D before you export anything.
Calculations
- Sheet size. The sheet is calculated from the dieline, or you can enter your own sheet size.
- Weight and waste. Board weight per square metre including the glue between plies, sheet and box weight, and cutting waste.
- Price per piece. Enter a selling rate per kilogram and a quantity to see the price per piece and for the order.
- Box compression estimate. An equation-based estimate of box compression strength (BCT) from the box size, the board's measured caliper and its ECT. It is an estimate for a regular slotted container with vertical flutes, shown with the equation and every input's source, and it should be confirmed with physical testing. A short animation illustrates the loading; it is not a measurement.
Outputs and saved work
- Dieline export as AI, PDF or DXF.
- CAD card, a one-page PDF with the dieline, the folded preview, board and material details, weights and pricing for production.
- Saved projects that you and your colleagues can reopen and keep editing.
Check before you cut. Dielines are generated from your inputs and settings. Review them against your own tooling standards before production.
Works with the rest of Kpack
Designs from Box Studio feed the Printing module, where artwork is placed on the dieline, and the paper library and test results are shared with the Quality module.
